  • Therapy can be beneficial if you're experiencing emotional distress, struggling with life transitions, relationships, or specific mental health challenges. If you feel overwhelmed, stuck, or want to understand yourself better and develop healthier coping mechanisms, therapy could be of benefit to you.

    • Safe Space: A private, non-judgmental place to talk freely.

    • Self-Awareness: Understand your thoughts and feelings better.

    • Coping Skills: Learn healthy ways to manage stress, anxiety, and other tough emotions.

    • Better Communication: Improve how you talk and connect with others.

    • Problem-Solving: Get help breaking down issues and finding solutions.

    • Healing: Process past traumas and move forward.

    • Symptom Reduction: Lessen feelings of depression, anxiety, and other mental health challenges.

    • Reach Goals: Set clear goals and get support to achieve them.

    • Fresh View: Gain an unbiased perspective on your situation.

    • Build Resilience: Become stronger and more confident in handling life's ups and downs.

  • Although counselling and therapy are often used interchangeably, there are some important differences with counselling tending to be briefer and more select in its focus, while therapy tends to be longer term and is geared to addressing broader challenges or difficulties. We have a whole blog post on this very topic you can check out if you want to know more.

Despite these differences, both counselling and therapy are collaborative processes between you and a trained mental health professional (therapist, psychologist or counsellor). These services provide safe, confidential spaces to explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, understand challenges, and develop effective strategies for personal growth and well-being.

  • The duration of therapy is highly individualized and depends on your specific goals, the nature of the challenges you're facing, and how consistently you engage in the process. Some individuals experience significant improvements within a few months, while others benefit from more extended and ongoing support.

  • Yes, meeting with a psychologist is effective. Psychologists and therapists are trained professionals who utilize evidence-based therapeutic approaches to help individuals address a wide range of mental health concerns, improve coping strategies, and foster personal growth. Research consistently demonstrates the positive outcomes of therapy in reducing symptoms of conditions like depression, anxiety, and trauma, as well as enhancing overall well-being and life satisfaction. The effectiveness often stems from the safe, confidential, and structured environment provided, allowing for self-exploration, skill development, and objective guidance.

  • Privacy is a cornerstone of therapy. Everything you discuss with your psychologist or therapist is private and protected by law, with a few legally mandated exceptions (e.g., if there's an imminent risk of harm to yourself or others, or child/elder abuse). Your Calgary therapist will discuss these limits with you during your first session.

  • You might benefit from therapy if you're experiencing persistent emotional distress that's impacting your daily life, relationships, or work. This could include ongoing feelings of sadness, anxiety, anger, or hopelessness that you're finding hard to manage on your own. Therapy can also be helpful if you're going through a significant life transition, dealing with trauma, or simply want to understand yourself better and develop healthier coping strategies. Essentially, if you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just not quite yourself, and you're open to exploring those feelings and learning new tools, therapy could be a beneficial path for you.

  • Many insurance plans do offer coverage for mental health services, including therapy. However, the extent of coverage, such as the number of sessions or co-pay requirements, can vary widely. It is best to contact your insurance provider directly to understand your specific benefits and any necessary procedures for coverage.

  • The typical session is 50 minutes. This allows for 10 minutes for your psychologist or therapist to prepare for the session and complete their chart notes.

The cost per session depends on the clinicians level of experience, specialisation and qualifications. Our psychologists and therapist rates range from $220 - $240 per session.

  • Yes! We offer a free 15 minute phone call to chat about what’s going on for you, your hopes/goals for therapy, and whether or not we are best-suited as therapists for your needs. This is also a chance for you to ask about us and get a feel if you think we would be a good fit for you.

  • If you think that someone in your life could benefit from therapy, have a conversation with them and express your concerns from a place of kindness and support. If they consent, you can complete the online form to reach out to us on their behalf. You could also offer to help them book a consultation call, and if they are comfortable with it, you can support them during the call with one of our therapists or psychologists.
